Who needs to be vaccinated for the COVID -19 Vaccine?

The Australian Government aims to have as many people vaccinated as possible in 2021.

Identified priority groups will get the first available safe and effective doses of vaccines. More people will have access to a vaccine as more doses become available throughout 2021.

The priority groups include Aged care and disability care residents and workers, frontline healthcare workers, and quarantine and border workers. Please continue to check our website for updated information regarding the current phase of the vaccine rollout.

Can I be vaccinated if I am pregnant?

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, you will need to consider the government health recommendations prior to booking in for your vaccination.

Please visit the Australian Government Department of Health website for a decision guide, or contact our administration staff for assistance with accessing these resources.

Is the vaccine safe?

All vaccines are thoroughly tested for safety before they are approved for use in Australia. This includes careful analysis of clinical trial data, ingredients, chemistry, manufacturing and other factors.

What are common side effects of the vaccine?

You may experience minor side effects following vaccination.

Most side effects last no more than a couple of days and you will recover without any problems. Common reactions to vaccination include: pain, redness and/or swelling where you received the needle, mild fever and/or a headache. Serious reactions such as allergic reactions are extremely rare.

They usually occur within 15 minutes of receiving a vaccine. After you receive your vaccine, you should wait this amount of time before you leave to ensure your safety in case a reaction occurs. If you have any concerns after receiving your vaccine, our team is available for contact and will be happy to assist you with any follow-up that is required.

How many doses of vaccine will I need?

The number of doses will vary depending on which vaccine you receive.
